In 2003, six-string virtuoso Jeff Rankin and NY Singer-Songwriter Anthony Sica assembled a 5-piece unit to perform the unique blend of power metal, thrash and prog swirling through their creative consciousness...thus Luna Dementia was born. With only three (ten minute plus) songs, two gigs and a lot of marketing savvy, Luna created a phenomenal buzz, landing a spot opening for legendary melodic metal maestro Rob Rock and a track on 2004's PROG POWER compilation. However, the band's meteoric rise, led to internal crashes.. When the smoke cleared, Rankin and Sica carried on, stripping the band down to a 4-piece with a brand new rhythm section. Rankin and Sica wrote nine new tunes, releasing a 4-song EP called ON THE RISE.

In 2005, after several Florida tours, Luna went on a temporary hiatus. Sica recorded a solo album and returned to NYC to promote it successfully playing to enthusiastic audiences at CBGB's, The Bitter End and other amazing and legendary NY venues. Rankin, returned to the studio also, creating a multitude of amazing solo tracks showcasing his extraordinary vocal skills in addition to his already deft and much-lauded guitar prowess.

Getting these various ego-fueled projects out of the way, Sica and Rankin reconnected in September 2007 and began writing what would become ECLIPSE...Luna Dementia's new full-length. Part Van Halen, Motley Crue, KISS, RUSH and Dream Theater, ECLIPSE is Jeff and Anthony flexing their arena rock muscles amidst power prog. News-Journal entertainment writer Rick De Yampert states, "On ECLIPSE the band thoroughly covers the hard rock/metal landscape. SCREAM is a prog metal epic that blitzkriegs today's political scene. 30 A DAY detonates roiling, uber-metal riffage…BEST OF ME and FAR FROM HOME doctor riffs with feel good 80s arena rock vibes. For MIRACLE, the guys wisely resisted the urge to pimp slap this shimmering acoustic guitar ballad with gorilla-handed power ballad theatrics. You'll like this if you like Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Rush and DreamTheater."

Prior to ECLIPSE's completion in December, Luna Dementia, now focused on touring as a power trio with Sica on bass and lead vocals, hired drummer Mark Walker. Although at first only to fullfill live touring engagements, It became immediately clear that this was the missing part of the body, mind and soul that is Luna Dementia. Gelling immediately, Walker, a veteran of the pop music industry (toured with C&C Music Factory) and prog-metal dynamo, incited the writing of "Motor." again in a matter of mere moments. Fittingly, "Motor" is the most focused song on ECLIPSE. Lyrically, it's about determination, longevity and fatalism...symbolically it represents Luna Dementia's true rebirth.

Since ECLIPSE's release in April, Luna Dementia has been touring all over Central Florida, headlining many club venues, while playing opening and warm-up gigs for the likes of Slaughter,Skid Row and fittingly where it all began, for melodic metal maestro…the legendary Rob Rock. Back in the studio, in-between playing shows on their "SCREAM FOR BLOOD" tour, Luna Dementia is recording an EP on their Power Surge Records label, which will include the new songs, "Vampire Bride," "Fallen Star." "Too High To Die," "On With The Show" and "Echo." Musically, these tracks, (which Luna has been recently playing live) lean more toward their roots in progressive power metal and thrash while lyrically, they are more gothic, supernatural and thematic in nature. Think vintage Iced Earth, Iron Maiden and Priest with the swagger of Motley Crue's new SOLA CD and old school Skid Row.

Musical references aside, Luna Dementia's new material is a unique slab of molten metal that will burn itself into your sonic psyche. The Lunatics are indeed...running the asylum.
